Step One

Generation of the UR Reference Number

Create your unique applicant identifier → Create UR Reference Number

    Applicants are requested to access the University of Rwanda Online Application Portal through the following link: https://applications.ur.ac.rw
  • 2
    Applicants who completed Senior Six in Rwanda should enter their Senior Six Index Number. The system will automatically retrieve the available information corresponding to their National Examination results. Applicants should review the displayed information, complete the remaining required fields, and submit. Upon successful submission, the UR Reference Number and PIN will be generated and also sent to the applicant's personal email address.

    International applicants, as well as Rwandan applicants who completed their studies under an international education system and have obtained an official Equivalence Certificate, should complete the online application form. Upon successful submission, the UR Reference Number and PIN will be generated and also sent to the applicant's email address.

Step Two

Submission of the Application

Select your programmes and submit

    Applicants who have completed Senior Six in Rwanda: Their Senior Six results obtained from the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) will be retrieved and displayed in the application system.

    Eligible Programmes: Based on the applicant's Senior Six combination, all eligible programmes will be displayed in the system for selection.
  • c
    Each applicant is allowed to select up to three (3) programmes of their choice.
  • d
    An application can only be submitted after the required application fee has been received and reflected in the system.
  • e
    Applicants may change their selected programmes during the application period, provided that the changes are made before the application deadline.

    International applicants, as well as applicants holding equivalence certificates, are required to upload all relevant supporting documents:
    Equivalence Certificate
    Senior Six Certificate
    Copy of Passport
    National ID (Rwandans)

    Upon successful submission of an application, the applicant will receive a notification by email together with a confirmation letter.
